Phone Interview Questions and Tips, Example and Preparation

Before we apply for any job, we carefully take time to create our resume according to needs for this company in order to increase our chances for an interview. This obviously is the right thing to do from logical stand point which insures the results of proactive effort. However, a lot of times we forget to take proactive measures towards the very first interaction… You’ve probably read the title of this article which means you probably know that I’m talking about a “phone interview”.

But what happens if you are not ready for the first phone interview?

The main reason people don’t get invited for the second interview is because of nervous behavior during phone interview which can be caused by unpredictability. Meaning, that sometimes we either don’t know what to expect or the employer calls you by surprise. This can be a bit awkward especially if you get a call while at work.

What would you do if this happened to you and person on the other line asks if this a good time for an interview?

Chances are pretty good that you would have at least a couple of days to prepare for the phone interview which means proactive behavior can lead to successful outcome. Of course, we still tend to overthink things that can lead to nervous behavior and cause you to fail even if you are the best candidate for this job.
